Taunton Academy release single

The Taunton Academy have recorded a single for the ‘Stand Against Violence’ charity.

They have teamed up with Open Mic UK semi-finalists, REALM to write and record the single. It has been  inspired by, and aims to promote the charity ‘Stand Against Violence’ (SAV). SAV is run by Adam Fouracre, brother of Lloyd, who was killed in Taunton by an act of unprovoked violence the day before his 18th birthday. Adam said:

"This single is an extremely kind and unexpected act. Not only does it raise the profile of the charity and bring in much needed funds but it directly contributes to sustaining Lloyd's memory and the message we promote to schools. Lloyd was not just a member of my family and friend to many but he was also a member of the Taunton community. This single commemorates his life and I hope the people of Taunton will support its release. The song is very inspiring and promotes a positive message of a more peaceful and non-violent society."

The charity runs various educational conferences, assemblies and lessons to schools and other associations to educate young people in the harm violence can do to all concerned.

The song – also called SAVED – was written by James Trusson and Andrew Maxwell, both 17 year old students’ at Richard Huish who also play guitars and sing on the recording. Pupils from The Taunton Academy, including Holly Salter, Ellie Cox, Darren Hodge, Lily Prosser-Powell and Wesley Williams have also added lead vocals and harmonies, with drums by Craig Connet who plays with Sandi Thom and Joss Stone and keyboards from Huw Weston who has played with Neill Finn, Steph Howe and who wrote the classic dance anthem, Take Me Home. The charity single has been produced by Actiontrack, a community based music Production Company led by Nick Brace plus Musicroom studios at The Taunton Academy with engineering by Wesley Williams.

Principal, Mark Trusson commented:

"The single is a fantastic community effort to promote the charity and make people aware of the good work it does to help
educate people around the serious harm and impact of violence. It is a really catchy song and we hope it will sell well. All proceeds will go to SAV so make this your number one at Christmas!"

The single can be purchased for £2.00 from the 02 store, The Body Shop, Miles Tea Rooms, The Perkin Warbeck (J D Weatherspoons), SAV website, The Taunton Academy website and iTunes.

The song is being performed live at 6.30pm on Thursday 22nd December in The Taunton Academy Live Music Tent on High Street, Taunton.
