Exec VP was 48
Joseph De Marco, exec. VP of business affairs for Fox Searchlight, died June 19 in Los Angeles of apparent heart failure prior to undergoing emergency surgery. He was 48.
Visitation will be Tuesday, June 24 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills, 6300 Forest Lawn Drive, Los Angeles. The funeral is set for Wednesday, June 25 at 2:30 p.m. at Forest Lawn-Hollywood Hills.
“Everyone at Fox is devastated by the sudden, tragic loss of our dear friend and colleague, Joseph DeMarco,” said a Fox spokesman, “The professional and personal loss is immeasurable for all of us who knew and loved this remarkable man.”
De Marco joined Fox in 1990 from the law firm Gold, Marks, Ring & Pepper. He became one of the first employees at Fox Searchlight when it was founded in 1995. De Marco was instrumental in brokering deals for Searchlight films including “Sideways,” “Napoleon Dynamite,” “Little Miss Sunshine” and “Juno.”

He was a graduate of Southwestern Law School and participated in numerous industry seminars and panels.
De Marco is survived by his wife Shannon, a sister and two brothers.
